Installation FAQ

1. How to configure NVR3000 and camera IP address for my project?

1.1 If you customer field site has DHCP server, it is highly recommend to setup the system directly at customer site. Just use let the devices, including NVR3000 and camera to get IP automatically.

1.2 If you customer field site has no DHCP server, then we suggest you configure the IP address in your office in advance. Please assign fixed IP to all cameras and NVR3000.

You can find the detail case in the “NVR3000 Installation Tutorial.”

2. How to select proper RAID level?

NVR3000 provides four different level of RAID protection. You can choose the proper level to meet you requirements.

RAID

Minimum # of HDD

Capacity

Proper Scenario

Non-RAID

1

N

Cost concern, No need protection
You will have the maximum capacity.

RAID 1

2

N * 0.5

Data availability first.
All data need to be protected well.
Best data protection with higher cost.

RAID 5

3

N-1

Commonly use, against one drive failure, cost-effective and data protection are both included.

RAID 6

4

3.3 Ensure the disk installation is following below order (1, 2, 3, 4…). Please don’t install the disk out of order like 1, 3, 6, 7, 8 which will make the system can’t create the RAID system.

3.4 If you use NVR3308, ensure you install the network cable on the first LAN port

3.5 If you use NVR3104, please ensure you install the monitor on VGA port. The HDMI port is only used for displaying the eMAP and alarm monitoring.

4. Why NVR3000 doesn't record video?

Please check your NVR3000 recording policy

4.1 Motion recording mode
● The NVR3000 is using motion recording in default which means it would record the video only in motion trigger.
● If you connect the 3rd party which doesn’t support camera motion detection or using ONVIF camera, you need to setup the general motion detection for each camera. (Please note that if you enable general motion detection to multiple cameras, it would increase the NVR server loading)

4.2Always recording mode
Go to storage manager to check following disk indicators, if there is any abnormal status, the recording might be stop due to disk problem.
● Check there is a disk’s data type is “VIDEO”
● Ensure the disk online status is “YES”
● Ensure the disk is “Enable”
● Ensure the disk status is “Normal”

4.3 Event recording mode
Ensure you have created a new rule and enable the “Recording Control” to apply the event recording rule.

4.3 No recording mode
In this case, the NVR3000 would not record video.

Please find the application note:http://goo.gl/jKfElZ

2. If the hard disk is broken, how to repair the NVR3000?

2.1 You need to click the storage icon in the bottom left to locate the broken disk which would be marked as red.

2.2 Based on the RAID type, there are different methods.
● If your RAID type is non-RAID, the video in this disk will be lost permanently. You need to shut down the NVR3000 and replace the problem disk. After replace the new disk, you can go to storage manager to setup the disk to record video.
● If your RAID type is RAID 0, all the video will be lost and you need to follow below methods to rebuild your storage.
‧Replace the broken disks.
‧Refer to below link to restore your system.
http://goo.gl/jfdPZ9
● If your RAID type is RAID 1, the video will be intact. You just need to replace the broken disk and the storage will be rebuild automatically.
● If your RAID type is RAID 5 and only one disk was broken, the video will be intact. You just need to replace the broken disk and the storage will be rebuild automatically. Otherwise, if the failure disks are more than one, all video will be lost and you need to follow below methods to rebuild your storage.
‧Replace the broken disks.
‧ Refer to below link to restore your system.
http://goo.gl/jfdPZ9
● If your RAID type is RAID 6 and less than or equal to two failure disks, the video will be intact. You just need to replace the broken disk and the storage will be rebuild automatically. Otherwise, if the failure disks are more than two, all video will be lost and you need to follow below methods to rebuild your storage.
‧Replace the broken disks.
‧Refer to below link to restore your system.

3. Is it possible to change RAID type if I finish installation wizard?

No, so far we do not support RAID reconfigure or extend. If you would like to change the RAID configuration, you need recreate the RAID.
But all the video data might be deleted. Please make sure if you back up the video before you reinstall the NVR3000.
You can find the application note to find how to reinstall the NVR3000:http://goo.gl/jKfElZ

4. How to extend the capacity of NVR3000?

To extend the capacity, you can follow below step to create another RAID volume.
4.1 Please shutdown your NVR3000 first.
4.2 Open the cover and attach the cables to your HDDs.
4.3 Power on the NVR3000.
4.4 Login the NVR3000 Local client.
4.5 Click the setup button on the right top corner.
4.6 Click Recording and then Storage.

4.7 In storage manager, click settings

4.8 Select the RAID level, then click create Logical Drive.

4.9 Reboot NVR3000 and you will see the new RAID volume are available.

5. How to manage two monitors on NVR3000?

5.1 NVR3000 can support at most 2 monitors to display the live-view at the same time.
5.2 NVR3104 has three video output interfaces. (HDMI / DVI / D-SUB)

5.3 NVR3308 has two video output interfaces. (HDMI / D-SUB)

5.4 NVR3000 can dual stream switching.
Since the computing power and capability are different from NVR3104 and NVR3308, so we have some limitation on the number of HD streams on NVR3104 and NVR3308.

For NVR3104, we provide 1*HD stream (Stream1), and secondary monitor can display the E-MAP and alarm monitoring window only.
For NVR3308, we can provide 4 * HD stream (Stream1), and 1 * HD stream (Stream1) on secondary monitor.

6. How to allow mobile phone to access NVR3000?

The web server of NVR3000 is using port 80 and 8080 for web/mobile access. You need to setup the port forwarding on the router for 80 and 8080 ports to allow the mobile phone can access the NVR3000.You can refer to below video link to know the details.

9. How to adjust retention day?

9.1 The default retention day of NVR3000 is 30 days. If you want to change the retention days, you can click the setup button.

9.2 Select System and then select General Server Settings.

9.3 A tabbed window will appear providing the following configuration tabs: Storage Quota. In the Minimum Free Space field, the Minimum space required for storage is shown. The storage will be last for 30 days.

10. Why I see the video quality looks like CIF instead of full HD?

10.1 It is related to display stream resolution.
10.2 The NVR3000 utilize dual streams from camera side to do the local display. But it would always use stream 1 for recording to give best quality for playback.
10.3 In general, the dual stream will be stream 1 and stream 2. The stream 1 represents the high resolution and stream 2 represents the standard resolution like CIF.
10.4 Different NVR3000 has different local display capability.
● NVR3104:
1, 1+3, 1+5, 1+7, 1+8 view: The “1” will be stream 1 and others will be stream 2.
2x2, 3x3, 4x4 View: Only the marked channel will use stream 1.
● NVR3308
1,4,1+3, 1+5, 1+7, 1+8 view: The “1”, “4” will be stream 1 and others will be stream 2.
10.5 You can refer to below application note to know why Surveon and other VMS giant would use this kinds of design. http://goo.gl/Twie3c
