As an experienced professional in video recording and storage, Dr. NVR aims to share some insights on the factors you could take into account when specifying suitable NVR for your projects.

What is throughput?

Throughput is a measure of how many units of information a system can process in a given amount of time, typically measured in Kbps (kilo bits per second) or Mbps (mega bits per second).

How does throughput affect video surveillance?

Throughput of NVR is like the width of road. More spacious road allows more vehicles pass. The higher throughput makes more data transmission. With higher throughout, NVR can support more channels with higher bitrate and frame rate, giving users better image quality which is essential in terms of surveillance purpose.

  High Throughput Low Throughput
Channel Number More Less
Bitrate Higher Lower
Frame Rate Higher Lower

What are the advantages of NVR with high throughput?

Why choose Surveon NVR Solution?

Under our expertise in storage system structure, Surveon NVR can support up to 5 megapixel recording with a high level of recording throughput of 6 Mbps per channel, ensuring cameras can be recorded and viewed without frame drop. For NVR7300 Series with support up tp 128 channel, the maximum throughput could reach 768 Mbps in total.

Even with third party VMS, such as Milestone, our NVR7800 Series supports up to 150-channel 3MP cameras based on the performance test for continuous recording and the system results in a high level of recording throughput up to 2000Mbps.
